Thank You and Goodbye to Car Town

So, it's been four years since Car Town began in the summer of 2010 and it's been a long journey. We come a very long way. So what's it all being about?

Well, we learned that it's more enjoyable to collect tons of cool cars than any other game in the world, you can race against friends, you collect more cash from jobs, the DeLorean Time Machine saves your jobs in case you missed them, and we learned that recreating the best Fast and Furious moments using Fast and Furious cars is a lot more enjoyable.

We know that because the plural of the Prius is Prii, we all have different Priuses to choose from, Prius V's five-seater capacity and boot space means good for a camping trip, we learned that Camaros rule than Mustangs, Corvettes rule than Vipers, we can distinguish a car whether if its a road car, a track-day car, or an offroader, we had numerous experiences on adventures such as the desert, the arctic, United Kingdom, Brazil, Italy, the US, Japan, and so many places.

We also learned that the Scion xB can have different shapes and styles depending on the occasion, that you can fit cars with the best parts to give out the full potential within them, that decorating your car is a work of art from a true car enthusiast, and your garage is your own infinite world of possibilities.

But in the end of it all, maybe we discovered just one thing that in this crazy, fast-moving world of Car Town, WE LOVE CARS.

Today, Car Town is officially ceased to exist. The message goes like this;

We want to thank you all for your patronage over the last 4 years. We all here have enjoyed bringing you this car collecting experience and we feel that we have been truly blessed with a great community and hope you join us in our future projects.. --Car Town Facebook Team / GLU

Thank you and goodbye, Car Town. We all going to miss you.

Car Town services to end this late August

Car Town services on Facebook ends on the 29th of August

Since its launch on the summer of 2010, Car Town, the social game on Facebook allows car enthusiasts to create garages, do jobs, collect and build cars, race against friends, and go on adventures. In its four year lifespan, Car Town's roster of cars; from JDM tuners, offroaders, American muscles, European exotics, service vehicles, and many others has been growing and it has partnered with Universal (for Back to the Future, Jurassic Park, and The Fast and The Furious franchises), BBC (for Top Gear), IndyCar, NASCAR, NHRA, Sony Pictures (for Ghostbusters) and so much more. The game's fan base keeps on growing thanks to the feature where players can create their own templates and show off their work on the global scale.

Sadly, the game's developer, Cie Games, announced that on the 29th of August, 2014, Car Town will be shutting down.

As the countdown to Car Town's end unfolds, Cie Games announced that most of the limited-time cars will be for sale so players can complete their collections or obtaining the one gamers been longing for.

An end of an era for one of the fan-based games we all enjoyed for the last 4 years.

2015 Ford Mustang GT

The year 2014 marks the 50th anniversary of the iconic Ford Mustang muscle car and what better way to celebrate its 50th birthday is by regenerating our favorite muscle car into something more modern and more Mustang than ever before. The 6th-generation Mustang maybe look more of a following to today's trends but its Mustang heritage is always at its inner self. The top of the line model comes with the 5.0L V8 engine developing over 420HP of power. This isn't just a car, it's the pride of Ford Motor Company.

2011 Pagani Zonda R

The Zonda R got round the Nurburgring in 6 minutes and 47 seconds and that's even more faster than almost anyone that land themselves at the Green Hell. The R is a track-only version of the revered Pagani Zonda hypercar which pushed this machine to even greater heights. With the combination of the 740HP AMG V12 engine, extensive use of carbon fiber, track-focused handling, and a shorter stopping distance, there's no doubt this Zonda is the king of all Zondas.

2011 Pagani Zonda R

2014 Scion tC

The tC is the attempt from Toyota's youth-oriented Scion brand to take on the likes of other affordable front-wheel drive tuners from the likes of the Honda Civic and for this second-generation, it gets even better especially when Scion increased the size of its engine from the old model's 2.4L engine to the new 2.5L 4-cylinder engine. For the 2014 model, the appearance looked even more aggressive, sleek, and sporty while remaining some of its performance carried over from its pre-facelift.

2015 Subaru WRX

"Pure Power in Your Control", that is the product concept established for Subaru when they've revealed the brand new WRX sports saloon complete with a brand new chassis, bodywork, and the new FA20 DIT engine that develops a maximum 268HP of power output. In addition of the 6-speed manual gearbox standard, there is an optional (and slightly casual but blunt) Sport Lineartronic CVT with a feature that switches to an 8-speed manual model when switched to S# on the SI-DRIVE.

1993 Ford SVT Cobra

In a desperate attempt to put the highly forgettable third-generation Ford Mustang the recognition it truly deserves; Ford unleashed the SVT Cobra at the 1992 Chicago Auto Show. This car served as the maiden work of the then-established SVT division. Power comes from the 302 CID Windsor V8 engine that develops 235HP of power, 380Nm of torque, and a 0-60mph time of under six seconds.

1958 GM Firebird III

Of all the Firebird concepts displayed at the 1958 General Motors Motorama, this is by no means the most influential of all the Firebirds. It is the only Firebird concept to have its design influenced on production vehicles built from General Motors.

2014 Chrysler 200

The new, second-generation Chrysler 200 sees a departure from being just a Sebring minor change and transformed into a stunningly beautiful midsize saloon which represents the new face of Chrysler. It is the first in class to offer a 9-speed automatic transmission and a chassis derived from Alfa Romeo.

1971 Dodge Charger

The classic Dodge Charger muscle car, which uses Chrysler's B-Body platform, has an updated look for the 1971 model year. For this model year, most four-door saloons which uses the B-Body platform will be badged as Coronets while all two-door B-Body machines were badged as Chargers. There was a Citron Yella exterior color offered only on the 1971 model year and afterwards, most Hi-Impact colors were removed.

1956 BMW 507 Roadster

Destined to compete with the strikingly beautiful Mercedes-Benz 300SL, the BWM 507 features a more beautiful exterior design which is more visually attractive than the 503. Underneath the 507's unique chassis lies a 3.2L V8 engine which produces 148HP of power output, allowing it to achieve a top speed of 124mph.

1986 Ford Aerostar

Long before any other family-friendly Ford MPVs launched from USA and around the world, there was the Aerostar, a family MPV which shares its underpinnings from the Ford Ranger and the Ford Bronco. It was Ford's first attempt to create a multipurpose vehicle as a response from Chrysler developing their own line of minivans but little did you know that the Aerostar was one of the most aerodynamic vehicles developed by Ford since the SVO Mustang and the Lincoln Continental Mark VII because of its drag coefficient of 0.37.

2006 VW New Beetle

Even though the Golf succeed the Beetle as the "people's car", the Beetle is still one of the most popular machines in history thanks to its unique design and just before the 90's end, Volkswagen gave the Beetle their own modernized look and they called it New Beetle. Although it looks just like the original one, it now utilizes the same platform as the VW Golf.

2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon 10th Anniversary

In the year 2003, Jeep released their flagship version of the off-road ready Wrangler called the Rubicon, which is named after one of the most gruelling off-road trails in the world. 2013 marks the 10th anniversary of the Rubicon model so Jeep celebrates its 10th birthday with a special model which pushes the envelope on one of the most off-road capable vehicles you can buy. Available in 2-door and 4-door Unlimited model, the Rubicon 10th Anniversary model features special equipment to keep it on par with the ultimate Wrangler ever made.

1969 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am

The Trans Am Performance and Appearance Package was offered on the first-generation Pontiac Firebird for the 1969 model year, the one where the Firebird gained its looks from its big brother, the GTO. For 1969, most Firebirds are offered with either a 350 cu in V8 or a high-powered 400 cu in (6.6L) V8 engine with the optional Ram Air IV that generates about 345HP of power output. There were 689 hardtops and 8 convertible models of the 1969 Firebird Trans Am models were made, making it one of the rarest machines you can find on the roads.

2008 Subaru Impreza WRX STi

Premiered at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show, the third-generation WRX STi puts a new spin on the fan-favorite 4WD rally machine because for this generation, it's offered exclusively as a 5-door hatchback rather than the 4-door saloon that most Subarists adore because of its heritage. Not only that, the third-generation WRX STi incorporates a host of cutting-edge technology such as DCCD and Si-DRIVE to keep it in tune with the times.

2011 BMW 1M Coupe

The most compact coupe from BMW gets all pumped up with the BMW 1M Coupe. Originally they have to call it the M1 but they decide to call it the 1M to avoid further confusion to the M1, which is sacred to BMW as their first-and-last mid-engined supercar that spearheaded the BMW M division. Using the same 3.0L turbocharged engine from the top-of-the-line Z4, the 1M develops 335HP of power and 450Nm of torque. With a light package, big power, and a whole lot of charisma, the 1M is designed to make you happy.

2012 Lamborghini Aventador J

This one-off Lamborghini Aventador as seen at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show has no roof and no windows, making it one of the most extreme exotic made for a very special customer. Because it's based on the flagship Aventador, it uses the same 6.5L V12 engine from the original Aventador so when you push it to the max, best to tread lightly and pack a helmet because this roofless beast is capable to shred your face off at high speeds.

1956 GM Firebird II

Part of the wonderful concept cars displayed at the 1956 General Motors Motorama, the Firebird II concept car features a titanium bodyframe and because titanium is the toughest metal on Earth, you might think that this 4-seater concept car is tough as a tank but of course being a concept, it hasn't been proven at this moment in time. The engine that powers it is a Whirlfire GT-304 gas turbine engine developing 200HP of power and with this engine that powers it, this is General Motors' attempt to create a luxury machine powered by a gas turbine that promises good performance and good fuel consumption.

1956 GM Firebird II

1959 Jaguar Mark II

Although this car is popularized by the Inspector Morse TV series, the vintage Jaguar Mark II is proven to be quite a worthy contender that competed at the European Touring Car Championship. Not only it looks really beautiful, it's a fast and nimble sports saloon and with the choice of three XK straight-6 engines offered, there's nothing to go wrong with it.

1959 Jaguar Mark II

Ghostbusters Ecto-1

If there's something strange in the neighborhood, who you gonna call? GHOSTBUSTERS. Yes, the GHOSTBUSTERS films were noticeably one of the most iconic film franchises of all time and if you're more of a geek or nerd, these films are worth salivating for, especially as the main mode of transportation the Ghostbusters are using when people call them in need. The Ecto-1 features some state-of-the-art technology useful for the Ghostbusters to get through the paranormal scene in time and catch some ghosts!

2006 BMW M6

In 2003, the BMW 6-Series nameplate was returned and although it's not somewhat a replacement to the 8-Series, this grand tourer is essentially the coupe version of the E60 5-Series. The high-performance version of the 6-Series is the M6. It's powered by a glorious 5.0L V10 derived from the E60 M5 and it's mated to either a 7-speed single-clutch SMG or a 6-speed manual.

1953 GM Firebird I

Concept cars of the 1950's showcasing what would cars be look like in the 21st century and they have to conceptualize it with next-generation technology so that spectators would dream about it and on the 1954 General Motors Motorama, they have exhibited this, the Firebird I. Designed to look like a fighter jet, it was the first gas-turbined powered vehicle ever tested in America and the Whirlfire Turbo Power gas turbine generates over 370HP of power. Because it weighs just around 2500lbs the power to weight ratio is around 0.15hp/lbs.

1953 GM Firebird I

1951 Buick LeSabre Prototype

Although the LeSabre Prototype, like most 1950's concept cars, adorned the styling reminiscent of fighter jet planes, this concept is way beyond convention because while most cars at that time have 6-volt electrics, this concept car has twice the electric voltage and it even comes with an automatic gearbox with a torque converter as well as a supercharged 3.5L V8 engine that runs not only on petrol but also methanol. Just to let you know, this ISN'T the Buick LeSabre as we know it although Buick got this name for their full-size models since 1959.

1951 Buick LeSabre Prototype

1961 Chrysler 300 G

Basically an updated version of the 300F, the Chrysler 300G features a V-shaped front face as well as the inverted quad lamps, revised rear, and the 6.8L V8 engine that powers it. Although it's available in coupe and convertible versions, this model is short-lived and updated to the 300H a year later.

1969 Ferrari 365 GTS4/Daytona Spider

The GTS/4 is the open top version of the Ferrari 365 GTB/4, known unofficially as the Daytona because of Ferrari's 1-2-3 finish in the February 1967 24 Hours of Daytona with the 330 P4, well that's the theory anyway. Even though it still comes with the same V12 as its hardtop equivalent, the Spider version is probably one of the rarest machines in history because 122 units have been made, less than the hardtop equivalent.

1969 Ferrari 365 GTS4/Daytona Spider

1971 Buick Riviera

One of the most notable features in this third-generation Buick Riviera is the addition of the Max Trac, that's Buick's call for the traction control system that prevents the wheels from spinning out during acceleration on wet surfaces. The third-generation Riviera is powered by a 455 7.5L V8 engine mated with a 3-speed automatic gearbox but it has lower compression ratio to meet EPA regulations.

1971 Buick Riviera

Ferrari 288 GTO

This Ferrari was originally built to compete with the Group B race series but when fatal accidents spelled the end of the Group B racing, the 288 GTO never went into racing, leaving all 272 units be sold into road-legal cars. It's powered by a 2.9L V8 turbo engine that Ferrari says it will do 0-60mph in a four second mark and a top speed of 189mph, making this the first-ever road car to reach the 300kph mark.

1984 Ferrari 288 GTO

1972 Lamborghini Espada 400 GTE

It's quite bizarre that Lamborghini once made a shooting brake in the form of the Espada grand tourer which was styled by the famed Marcelo Gandini from Bertone, the same man behind the Countach. Aside from being a shooting brake, the Espada is the first bonafide four-seater Lambo with 1217 units built during its 10 year tenure. It is the first Lamborghini to come with an automatic gearbox capable to survive the torque of the 4.0L V12 engine but unlike any other automatic gearboxes, the automatic gearbox in the Espada had a rather bizarre gearing from D, 1, and R.

1996 McLaren F1 LM

The LM version pushes the McLaren F1 to the very edge of its life and it's inspired by the F1 GTR that won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1995. It maybe a road-legal version of the GTR racer, the F1 LM features the same 6.1L BMW V12 engine but with reduced weight so that the top speed is 225mph. Only five units were sold, each costs over 4 million US Dollars.

1996 McLaren F1 LM

1984 Ferrari Testarossa

Still one of the most iconic exotics in the past century, the Testarossa is notable for featuring a boxer-12 engine that was carried from the Berlinetta Boxer. The Colombo boxer-12 engine rigged to the middle produces 396PS of power and can do 0-100kph in 5.3 seconds. Top speed is about 290kph. Apart from its high-performance output, the Testarossa is still one of the sexiest cars ever to be designed by Pininfarina.

1965 Ford Thunderbird Convertible

In its time, the Thunderbird from Ford is the best in class where the Buick Riviera and and Pontiac Grand Prix was positioned at and for this fourth-generation model, this Thunderbird tries to stay classy in its class. Available as a coupe and a convertible, it's available in either a 6.4L V8 or a 7.0L V8 with different flavors. Legend has it, it was the car of choice for Duncan Macleod in the Highlander TV series.

1996 McLaren F1

In the 1990's, this British-engineered hypercar is the speed king at this decade. The McLaren F1 set the benchmark as one of the fastest production supercars ever made. Penned by Gordon Murray, the F1 features some of the unique stuff that no other modern supercars had such as the golden engine bay which makes it the best for heat insulation and a middle-positioned driver's seat to give the owner some racecar-like feeling while driving on the road. Powered by BMW's 6.1L V12 engine, the top speed of the F1 is 240mph.

2012 Pagani Huayra

Premiered at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, the Huayra is the successor to the decade-long Pagani Zonda, the maiden hypercar of the Modena-based manufacturer.  The name Huayra comes from a South American God of the wind and as the name implies, it promises to blow away the competition thanks to its Mercedes-AMG M158 V12 twin-turbo engine that propels this hypercar from a 0-60 time of 3.4 seconds and a top speed of over 227mph.

2012 Pagani Huayra

2008 Pagani Zonda Cinque

Although it may not be classified as the "final edition" of the Zonda, the Cinque is a very special Zonda catered for the elite few because only five of these models are made and sold out. Although it is essentially a softened road-legal version of the record-breaking Zonda R track car, the Cinque is the first to introduce a new composite made out of carbon fiber and titanium called Carbotanium.

1967 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible

The tale of the Chevrolet Camaro began in 1966 as General Motors' answer against the Ford Mustang. It was a heck of a battle but it seems that the Camaro failed to stack against the Mustang even as years go by. This is the convertible version or to be accurate, the SS Convertible version. The SS model of the first Camaro comes with either a 5.7L V8 engine or a 6.5L V8 engine. Legend has it that this convertible version once used as a pace car for the 1967 Indianapolis 500 race.

1967 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible

1965 Ford Mustang Convertible

Born in 1964, the Ford Mustang served as one of the founding fathers of the muscle-car craze and since its first year of sales, Ford managed to racked up almost 700,000 orders, which is still an industry record that hasn't matched up as of now. The first Mustang is always worth remembering for Mustang fans who want to trace the roots of this founding father of this genre. A top-of-the-line model, especially this convertible model, can come with a 271 horsepower K-Code “Hi-Po” 289 Windsor V8 engine and with this, the success of the Ford Mustang can be traced here.

1970 Dodge Challenger Convertible

If there's one thing that the original Challenger had that the modern version didn't, it has to be the convertible version. Sure, both the Camaro and the Mustangs have convertible versions through the years but the Challenger is the only underdog left behind and even as of now, Chrysler won't be making a modernized Challenger convertible until further notice. Even though this is the convertible version, it's still a favorite among Mopar enthusiasts thanks to the 426 HEMI V8 engine pumping out 425HP of power output.

2012 Ford Taurus SHO

One of America's favorite "sleeper" cars, the Taurus SHO, returned on the sixth-generation model. Although it may have the attitude of a true sleeper car but the SHO is all about combining its sporty character with luxury amenities, making it more of a marathon runner in an executive suit. Power comes from the award-winning 3.5L EcoBoost V6 turbo engine that delivers the power output of a V8 car with a fuel economy of a midsize sedan.

Conquering off-road conditions since 1983, the Defender is the hallmark of Land Rover's commitment for off-road ready vehicles that are truly "Made in United Kingdom". Even though it hasn't change for almost three decades, the Defender still has the same "British Bulldog" spirit.

When it went on sale in 1992 as the RT/10 Roadster, the Viper story begins here. 1975 RWB Ducktail

This creation from tuner RWB, based on the classic 930, uses a narrow RSR styling which, in RWB tuning fashion, takes about two months to convert it into a full-on track weapon featuring the notable ducktail spoiler. That spoiler maybe more of a throwback to the enthusiasts, but overall, this 1.4 million Yen conversion kit is more than enough to give sense with its throwback looks.

2012 Mazda 3

When the second-generation Mazda 3 or Axela in the Japanese marker was launched in 2009, this car reinvented the idling stop system by featuring the i-stop. For the 2012 model year, the facelifted version of the second-generation Mazda 3 is the first to come with SKYACTIV-DRIVE gearbox for seamless gear shifting unlike any other. You know the Mazda 2 or Demio is the first Mazda to feature SKYACTIV Technology in the form of the SKYACTIV-G petrol engines but when these two updated versions launched in 2011, Mazda signalled the start of SKYACTIV TECHNOLOGY; a new kind of technology that balances impressive fuel economy and fun-to-drive characteristics. It has been applied to other Mazdas as time goes by.

2004 Ford Mustang FR500S

This Mustang-based race car was driven by Eric Foss from Capaldi Racing for the 2011 Pirelli World Challenge season and this muscle car's quite a contender on the track. The FR500S is a mid-range track-only version that slots between the "Boy Racer" FR500C and the top-of-the-line "Man Racer" FR500GT. It uses the same V8 engine as the normal Mustang but uses a lot of track-honed essentials. Normally, it was built for use in a one-make race series but since it was ended, the Mustang was homologated for the World Challenge.

This is a concept car from Ford's Lincoln luxury brand that follows the same flow of the cars from the 50's and it's essentially based from the Lincoln Mark II. The 308 GTS is the targa-top equivalent of the 308 GTB hardtop coupe. This car became famous for being the car of choice of everyone's favorite crime-fighting detective, Magnum P.I. This memorable and iconic berlinetta is powered by a 2.9L Tipo V8 engine which, in its hardtop equivalent, can get a sub-6 second mark in its 0-60mph time.

The 599 features the same V12 engine that was used on the limited-run Enzo Ferrari and it comes with a host of F1 technology, making it track-focused while being usable on the road. It features a very clever magnetorheological suspension to keep this car stuck on the road. It is a product from Ferrari's passion for motorsports.
